Alexandria, Virginia — The Human Resources Research Organization (HumRRO) is honored to have been named a 2020 Top Workplace in the Washington, D.C., area by The Washington Post. HumRRO is an industry leader offering a science-based approach to solving problems in human capital management, education research and assessment, credentialing, talent analytics, and evaluation.

The Top Workplaces list highlights the top 200 government contractors, law firms, nonprofits, schools, and businesses based solely on employee feedback gathered through an anonymous third-party survey administered by research partner Energage LLC. The survey measures several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution, and connection. This year, Energage followed up with questions about how employers handled the Covid-19 pandemic, asking about teleworking accommodations, whether there were any furloughs or layoffs, and what policies helped employees during the crisis.

“Now in its seventh year, The Post’s Top Workplaces list continues to highlight the companies that are leaders in the Washington area in terms of employee engagement and satisfaction,” said Washington Post Top Workplaces editor Dion Haynes. “We had a record number of employees participate in the survey this year, making it clear that these organizations have made cultivating an atmosphere of support and respect a priority.”

HumRRO distinguishes itself as a top workplace by providing employees with a highly collaborative and supportive environment that fosters innovation, ethical practice, and outstanding customer service. We offer competitive salaries, outstanding health care and retirement benefits, flexible work options, professional development support, and an enriching environment in which to focus or diversify employees’ talents.

As a nonprofit organization, HumRRO has a long history of contributing back to science and society. Giving back is a source of pride for our employees, as evidenced by the photo in the press release. Last fall, staff from our Alexandria, Virginia, Monterey, California, and Minneapolis offices participated in the AARP Summer of Service to Seniors in Washington, D.C., packing meals for low income senior citizens.

“Being selected as a Top Workplace by The Washington Post is an honor and a testament to the positive, collegial work environment HumRRO employees have created,” said Suzanne Tsacoumis, Ph.D., president and CEO of HumRRO. “Particularly during the Covid-19 crisis, our employees have risen to the challenge, quickly adapted and excelled by pulling together. As a mission-driven organization, our goal is to give our staff the tools and support they need to best serve our clients and to give back to our profession and society, while ensuring our employees maintain a healthy work-life balance.”

The Washington Post published the 2020 Top Workplaces list in its June 14 edition. The ranked list of the Top Workplaces in small, midsize, large and largest categories will run in a special Top Workplaces magazine on October 14 and will be available online. The Post will also host an awards ceremony in October to recognize the 200 top-ranked companies.
