He is a doctoral candidate in Educational Measurement at the University of Alberta, Canada, and is expected to defend her dissertation in April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>First awarded in 2024, the Education Fellowship recognizes a doctoral student who \u201cdemonstrates exceptional research skills, academic achievement, and professional productivity\u201d in the areas of educational measurement and evaluation, and is in addition to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humrro.org\/corpsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/HumRRO_Fellowship_I-O_Handout_040124.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HumRRO Fellowship in Industrial-Organizational Psychology<\/a>, which has been awarded annually since 1998. As I learned more about the importance of collaborative problem-solving in both education and the workplace, I wanted to develop new methods that could make its assessment more valid, scalable, and meaningful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Fellowship selection committee noted He\u2019s seven first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals as well as her refereed presentations at numerous conferences when selecting her as the fellowship winner.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-3 fusion_builder_column_1_1 1_1 fusion-one-full fusion-column-first fusion-column-last\" style=\"margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:20px;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\" style=\"background-position:left top;background-repeat:no-repeat;-webkit-background-size:cover;-moz-background-size:cover;-o-background-size:cover;background-size:cover;padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px;\"><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\"><p><span style=\"background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);\">\u201cSupporting upcoming researchers with talent and promise like Surina is one of the most rewarding and important things we do at HumRRO,\u201d noted President and CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humrro.org\/corpsite\/profile\/suzanne-tsacoumis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Suzanne Tsacoumis, Ph.D<\/a>. \u201cWe are excited about Surina\u2019s future contributions to the field of educational measurement in the future and are thrilled to be a part of her journey.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);\">\u201cBeing recognized by HumRRO, an organization with such a strong legacy in educational measurement and applied research, strengthens my confidence in pursuing work at the intersection of psychometrics, process data, and AI-driven methods,\u201d said He.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>She plans to use the $18,000 non-renewable stipend to support her dissertation research, particularly the computational and data-intensive analyses needed to model collaborative problem-solving abilities, as well as travel expenses to present her findings at conferences.<\/p>\n<p>He is grateful to her doctoral advisor, Dr. Ying Cui, for her \u201ccontinuous guidance, encouragement, and support and for shaping how she thinks about the future of educational measurement and its real-world applications. I would also like to thank my doctoral committee members\u2014 Dr. Mark Gierl, Dr. Okan Bulut, and Dr. Mijung Kim\u2014for their invaluable insights and support, which have greatly enriched the
