Wade Buckland - Senior Scientist

Senior Scientist

Wade Buckland is a Senior Scientist at HumRRO who has nearly 15 years’ experience in consulting and applied research. He has helped a variety of clients develop, implement, and validate assessments. He has worked extensively to improve standards-based assessment within elementary and secondary school accountability systems. Over the course of his career, he has helped answer questions such as: How can we implement our program according to industry standards? Is our program being used as intended? How can we best test students using technology? And, to what extent has our program achieved its stated outcomes?

Buckland is particularly interested in assessment issues related to students with disabilities. He has worked on alignment studies of alternate assessments, studied and written about testing accommodation policies, and led accessibility reviews. Much of this work has been informed by his own experience as a special education teacher instructing and assessing students in the classroom.

Buckland has authored or co-authored more than 40 technical reports and has presented at several national conferences. He earned a Master of Arts degree in Research Methodology from the University of Pittsburgh and Master of Teaching in Special Education from the University of Virginia.
