Dr. Shonna Waters has over 7 years of experience in applied research. During that time, she has developed or assisted in the development of a wide range of predictors, including structured interviews, knowledge tests, situational judgment tests, and personality tests. Her primary research interests are related to predictor and criterion measurement, and fairness and bias in personnel selection. With regard to fairness and bias, she has conducted a series of studies assessing the effects of test coaching and practice, the effect of testing context, stereotype threat, and the role of socio-economic status in the cognitive ability-performance relationship. Her dissertation involved documenting the tradeoffs in terms of adverse impact and validity when using measures of specific ability, rather than g, in selection. Dr. Waters has employed a diverse set of research methodologies (e.g., interviews, observations, focus groups, surveys, tests) and statistical procedures (factor analysis, cluster analysis, meta-analysis, multiple regression, content analysis). Her responsibilities at HumRRO include test development and support, statistical and other analysis of data, as well as data collection and support.
