Biography/Blurb

Dr. Putka has developed and evaluated a variety of assessments that have been used by myriad organizations to (a) enhance their selection and promotion processes, (b) help prospective employees find careers that might suit them well, and (c) enhance their understanding of and ability to impact employees’ attitudes and performance.  His experience with regard to selection covers the full range of the development spectrum from large scale job analysis and competency modeling efforts through the setting of cut scores for operational selection systems, and ranges from systems designed for entry-level employees up to the executive level. Beyond measure development and selection, Dr. Putka also has a specialization in statistics and psychometrics. He has leveraged this expertise on several large scale data modeling and evaluation projects that have helped organizations (a) identify precursors of employee turnover, (b) evaluate and refine their selection systems and processes, (c) identify and establish priorities for addressing competency gaps among their workforce. Complementing his client-centered work, Dr. Putka has maintained an active presence in the scientific community, as evidenced by (a) numerous presentations and workshops at national conferences, (b) published book chapters and articles in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals, and (c) service as a reviewer and member of the editorial board of two scientific journals. In recognition of his contributions to psychological research and practice, Dr. Putka received the 2008 Arthur W. Melton Early Career Achievement Award from Division 19 (Society for Military Psychology) of the American Psychological Association, and was awarded a 2011 Presidential Coin for Science and Practice by the Society for Industrial-Organizational (I-O) Psychology (SIOP) for exhibiting exemplary behavior in support of the science and practice of I-O psychology. Dr. Putka is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and the Society for Military Psychology.
