American Society for Training , Development (ASTD) certified professional in learning and performance (CPLP) certification
In 2007, ASTD Certification Institute (CI) contracted with HumRRO to manage its CPLP certification. This included developing and maintaining the multiple-choice knowledge exam. In July 2007, HumRRO coordinated with ASTD to recruit subject matter experts (SMEs) for a series of two-hour item review sessions. During two of those sessions, we collected content validity ratings for the test items in the item bank.
These items were developed before HumRRO started working on the project. Collecting content validity is critical to the defensibility of the ASTD CPLP certification exam. It is through this process that we demonstrate that the knowledge measured by a test item is relevant to the job. We collected this activity in two sessions (morning and afternoon) on July 27, 2007.
Overview of the Content Validity Report
This report is organized into four sections. Section 1 describes the content validity participants. Section 2 describes the process for collecting the content validity data. Section 3 discusses the ratings results. Lastly, Section 4 briefly summarizes the content validity activity.
