President's Office
As HumRRO begins its 58th year, we find our role of helping government and other organizations to develop and manage their human resources is more critical than ever. These are turbulent times. Our nation is at war, confidence in government and industry has eroded, our federal government is still adjusting to structural changes designed to strengthen homeland security, and the educational achievements of our students do not compare well with outcomes in other countries. HumRRO has on-going projects designed to help in each of these areas. On these pages, we present a description of our activities and accomplishments as we confront these challenges. As those summaries indicate, our recent efforts have helped improve systems for selecting and training new employees, assessing and managing performance on the job, and helping individuals gain needed skills and select meaningful careers that use these skills fully.
HumRRO continues to grow in capabilities and competence as well as in revenues. We continue to expand our work in supporting state education agencies in meeting assessment and accountability challenges. Simultaneously, we have enhanced our efforts in supporting the military and other federal agencies in selection, training, and management of their workforce.
Each year, we set goals for ourselves at several levels. Our most basic goals are financial, reflecting the need to stay in business in order to achieve our other higher goals. Our primary concern is not with growth per se, but with maintaining sufficient working capital to invest in meeting our programmatic goals. We have met or exceeded our financial goals for the past several years.
As a non-profit organization, our highest level goal is to contribute to science and society. Our research divisions present descriptions of the work we have performed in pursuit of this goal.
In addition to our project work, HumRRO contributes to science by sponsoring the annual Meredith P. Crawford Fellowship in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and in supporting an annual internship program. HumRRO staff members also participate in and serve as officers for a variety of professional organizations, primarily associated with psychological or educational research.
I invite you to find out more about us by exploring these pages.
