Center for Survey Research (CSR)
The Center for Survey Research (CSR) staff employs a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods to answer research questions on a wide range of topics. They have extensive experience with the following topics.
Welfare Research: Welfare-to-work studies sponsored by the Federal government and individual states
Health Research: Injury and violence prevention, health plan satisfaction, health policy, health-related knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors
Education Research: Educational achievement testing, institutional research for educational associations, research on post-secondary education policy
The CSR staff brings expertise in the areas of:
- Survey instrument development, including questionnaires, respondent letters, forms, interviewer training manuals
- Quantitative data collection methods, such as mail surveys, in-person surveys including tracking hard-to-reach respondents, telephone surveys using computer-assisted telephone interviewing to enhance data quality, and Web-based surveys
- Qualitative data collection methods, including focus groups and in-depth interviews
- Other technical and survey-related activities, such as sample design and development, sample database management, CATI/CAPI data capture, programming in SAS, Access, and Blaise, data entry and optical scanning, and data processing including coding, editing, and cleaning
