The Center for Learning, Evaluation, and Assessment Research conducts research and analyses in the following areas:
  • Impact of assessment on instruction: analyzing the impact of testing programs on instruction and student learning.
  • Professional development: assessing needs for and consequences of inservice training for professional educators.
  • School accountability models: assessing alternative accountability methods.
  • Item Response Theory: creating ability scales that maximize test information.
  • Equating: calibrating test scores across time.
  • Test validation: investigating score meaning and usage at the student and school levels of analysis.
  • Utility of test scores: determining compatibility between test scales and test usage.
