The Center for Learning, Evaluation, and Assessment Research conducts research and analyses in the following areas:

Impact of assessment on instruction: analyzing the impact of testing programs on instruction and student learning.
Professional development: assessing needs for and consequences of inservice training for professional educators.
School accountability models: assessing alternative accountability methods.
Item Response Theory: creating ability scales that maximize test information.
Equating: calibrating test scores across time.
Test validation: investigating score meaning and usage at the student and school levels of analysis.
Utility of test scores: determining compatibility between test scales and test usage.
